Lighting Up your Kitchen

The lighting that you choose for your kitchen can make or break a room very very quickly. It is important to ensure that you have the right level of lighting in the room so that you can easily complete tasks as well as being able to fully relax in your kitchen. If you couldn't tell already, we're a bit of a fan of a pendant lights here at Naked Kitchens. As nearly all of our kitchens include an island within the design, we absolutely love to frame these with pendant lighting. By using beautiful large pendants above the island, it helps to highlight this area and create a subtle eye catching feature. However pendants aren't the only lighting that we think you need in your kitchen. As the island is generally not the main area of use within the kitchen, there are other types of lights that you will need within the kitchen. By using spotlights, it means you can really brighten up certain areas of the room and have the appropriate lighting for completing different tasks within your room. We often find that adding spotlights above preparation areas within the kitchen helps to really zone your room and bring light to the areas that need it the most. Pendants don't have to be ultra modern too. For example in our Chester Row kitchen, we absolutely love how they have combined modern and traditional in such an effective way. The beautiful large island has beautiful marble worktops as well as luxury integrated appliances but the use of these incredible grand pendants brings in that traditional element that ties in so well with the property. We love bringing an element of rich earthiness to a kitchen through the lighting choices. Lights don't always have to be bright and incredibly grand, sometimes keeping things simple can work so beautifully too. For example, the Highgate Kitchen features these simple ceramic pendants that have an incredible earth vibe and texture to them. They provide a soft, warm glow over the island, and combined with the walnut timber the whole room has an incredible natural feel to it. We also love the beautiful glass pendants that we have in the Pelham Kitchen within our showroom. They provide an incredible statement to the kitchen, but as they are glass and colourless- they are incredibly versatile and can work in any kitchen.
