Pink is a phenomenon that we just can't seem to get over in the interiors world! Throughout the years, we've gone from baby pinks to bright millennial pinks and just about everything in between, but it seems that 2018 is the year for blush, dusky pink. A beautiful dusky colour, with just the right amount of grey to create a soft, unfocused colour that immediately relaxes the mind.
It might seem like a colour that should be used in the bedroom or living room, rooms that are reserved for relaxing only. However, the kitchen is fast becoming this type of room, and is no longer just a small room for cooking in, meaning blush pink is perfect. A colour that works beautifully on its own, and also looks incredible with a combination of so many different colours. Adding black into the mix gives the pink an edge, whilst mixing pink within a white kitchen keeps the room beautifully fresh and adds a unique element. You don't need to introduce a large amount of this colour, simply a small injection of pink will provide the lift that your room needs.
A particular favourite combination of ours is pink and green, which is incredibly bold but works so well. A beautiful dusky heather was our choice of colour for the showroom, and it was such a perfect tone to balance with the incredible green cabinets. Despite these not being two colours that you would usually pair together, we think they combine beautifully and create a room with depth and intensity that is so inviting.
Pink was always originally considered a girly colour reserved for young girls only. But, blush and dusky pink are so different from that. It's so much more soft and composed, and warm enough to make any room feel serene and relaxed. Unexpected, yet incredibly refreshing, pink works beautifully wherever it is placed, and combined with another bold colour creates something even more spectacular.
The Ideal Home Show was an example of using pink in a big way within your home too. We worked with interior designer Sophie Robinson to create a kitchen and media unit for the Innovation home at the Ideal Home Show. The media unit was created to be the main feature of the room, and was finished in Hellebore by Little Greene. A bright, almost barbie like pink that you wouldn't ever expect to look so beautiful, but it really works incredibly well. The black metal legs add an incredible eye-catching element to the unit, and add so much texture to the room, despite the whole unit being such a simple design.
